The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces discussed efforts to bolster female empowerment across the globe during talks with the Nobel Peace Prize winner in Abu Dhabi at Qasr Al Bahr on Monday.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed underlined the crucial importance of international organisations coming together to ensure peace, harmony and co-existence for all sections of society.
Ms Nadia Murad, a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations, was honoured with the Nobel Peace Prize in October of last year, she has risen from the depths of despair to shine a light on the struggles of people all over the world.
The activist was one of thousands of Yazidi women captured by ISIS militants in 2014 and forced into sexual slavery after the group launched an attack on the Sinjar area of northern Iraq.
She escaped from her horrific ordeal after several months and has gone on to become a prominent campaigner against the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war.
Ms Nadia Murad expressed appreciation for the UAE’s role in promoting tolerance and championing the role of women in shaping society.
