By Ezidi24

After Kurdistan Region parliament has officially recognized August 3 as Yazidi Genocide Remembrance Day on last August, yesterday on Sept 15, 2019 Kurdistan Regional president Mr. Nechirvan Barzani has signed the resolution. Yazidis from Shingal as the main victims of the genocide are warmly welcoming this decision which will support the international community to recognize the genocide that happened against the people of Shingal by the hands of ISIS terrorists. It’s important for Kurdistan Regional Government and Iraqi federal government to reach an agreement regarding the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Shingal.

Amer saeed a Yazidi man from Shingal told Ezidi24, ” We thank everyone, who support Yazidi genocide case and prioritize this case as top of it’s agenda, the latest resolution which was passed by Kurdistan Regional Parliament for recognizing Yazidi genocide on August 3 2019 and signed by KRG president as an important step to forward for recognizing this genocide internationally.

He also added ” we do complain the Iraqi central government and the Kurdistan Regional Government over a series of thorny issues, nothing has changed yet, particularly Iraqi government because Yazidis are still ignored by this government.

“At the end, we urge Kurdistan Regional Government and Iraqi federal government to take better step to recognize this case as genocide internationally, but it’s also time to formally compensate the victims of genocide”. He added

Saadon Hussein is one of the relative’s victims, talked to Ezidi24” in fact, the decision of recognizing August 3 as Yazidi Genocide Remembrance Day and singed by Mr. Nechirvan Barzani is very important resolution, it’s a generous step and it should be taken into account recently to work on it more actively.

“There is no doubt, this will be a great factor to take this case to the International Court of Justice but first it needs to be recognized internally by Iraqi and Kurdish governments, it’s responsibility of both to support this case”. He added

Saadon also said” The Iraqi central government and the Kurdistan Regional Government over a lot of barbed issues have not work together on this case as it needs, so we ask both governments to take more responsibility towards their citizen, and look at Yazidis as an indigenous people not as 5 or 6 level component, so that we hope that both governments work more actively to recognize Yazidi genocide”.
